BBB files indicate a pattern of complaints concerning billing and sales practices of International Association of Healthcare Professionals (IAHCP). Numerous consumers tell BBB that they received a letter or phone call from IAHCP informing them that the consumer had been nominated as a top professional in their field. They were also told that they were being offered a chance to be published in IAHCP’s magazine/directory with their biography. Consumers then claim that the sales representative tells them there is a cost for membership in order to be published, and many report that the fees associated appear to climb as the company representatives attempt upsell the memberships. Several consumers were allegedly charged more than the negotiated membership fee after agreeing to pay. A number of consumers that have attempted to obtain refunds from the company claim they are told they are no refunds, or in some cases, only offered a small partial refund of the paid costs.

On August 3, 2016, BBB requested International Association of Healthcare Professionals voluntary cooperation in eliminating the identified pattern of customer complaints. As of August 18, 2016, the company has responded to BBB and reports that it has revised procedures and implemented strategies as follows: made changes to the descriptions used by sales representatives that further clarify the differences between premium memberships and basic membership (no cost); conducted additional targeted training for sales representatives regarding the new descriptions and how to further educate the prospective client. The company says managers will be monitoring any similar complaints going forward and ensuring that any complaint is adequately and appropriately resolved. Finally, the company will increase the frequency of reports to senior management that detail the specific actions that the company has implemented to address the issues.
