I had a central air unit installed but it does not cooling. After more then 6 visits from the technicians to "fix" the problem, they now say it's because the unit I purchased is too small for my house. Each tech that visited told me it was a different issue from the air handler blowing the the wrong speed, not enough coolant in the system, the unit running in safe mode, factory setting are wrong, etc. They quoted me multiple systems of various sizes but the final quote was for a 2 ton system. After a little research I learned that a 2 ton unit was just slightly bigger then needed and may cool so quickly that it wouldn't remove the humidity. When I questioned this with the sales person, he agreed with the research and a new quote was given for a 1.5 ton system. (Only a $300 price difference when we're talking about a $7,500 project). Needless to say, the system doesn't cool after all of the tech visits and because they can't figure out what is wrong, it is my fault for going with the smaller system. They are also saying it could be because of the windows or maybe the house isn't insulated enough. Never did they say I shouldn't go with the 1.5 ton or other factors could influence how well the unit works. They assured me I would be very happy with the 1.5 ton unit. The unit they replaced was a 1.5 ton unit which cooled the house well. I only replaced it because it was from **** and was inefficient. They also said there was a Freon change that would make my existing unit unable to be serviced. Now they say they can correct their error but it will cost me an additional $5000. Had they stated I needed the 2 ton unit from the start, it would have only cost an additional $300. $300 is nothing on a $7500 project and I gladly would have paid that if there was even a question on weather the unit would work or not. In speaking with the sales guy he stated he knew it was undersized from the start but said I was the customer and he gave me what I asked for.
