I have had nothing but problems with the New York Institute of Art and Design.I attempted to finish the course for 5 years but it has been close to ****.Problem #1 the teacher takes forever, weeks and weeks to answer. When you think you did great, and you put all your effort she kills you with her comments. I have never gotten a decent comment, its 100% criticisms.Problem #2 nothing explains your delays. If life happens you lose a person, lose a job or anything serious they dont care, too bad.Problem #3 this is a Certificate not a Masters Degree. They require the same amount of work I put in towards my Masters.Problem #4 They wont extend and ofcourse they would never refund 1 cent the student is always wrong.Problem #5 Each project asks a, b, ,c and the teacher expects a-z as well as it has to be according to her. Your opinion is trash.Problem #6 you cannot do anything like sleep, according to them 24 hours a day you need to work and that is impossible Problem #7 there are so many issues its impossible to enjoy or finish the Course Problem #8 if you write to the school to withdraw they dont care

I can easily say that my experience has been challenging and sometimes childish. A scary situation for someone who is investing their hard earned money in their education. They won't get it here.!!! The student advisor or mentor if you will respond to requested assignment submissions like grading papers in 3rd grade. I'd like to say offensive but it's actually humorous and certainly lacks the kind of professionalism you'd think would come with on line learning. The course itself has typographical errors but the advisor is quick to tell you that your draft is a fraction of an inch off. Ultimately seeking to see perfection in their imperfections. The availability of the "student advisor is limited and even as we honor their limitations we are faced with certain sarcastic responses i.e. "don't send an assignment until I ask for it. or don't re-submit until I review it and tell you to"!. Should we wait to see if we are going to get a smack on the hand with the metaphorical ruler? I've been stuck on an assignment for over a month because the student adviser responds to the same submission repeatedly instead of responding to the positive progression of her feed back. Perhaps she is overwhelmed or she just does not know what she is doing. When you correct her "the student advisor" she appeared to retaliate and the tone of her e-mails resemble the kind of ramblings from a frustrated grade school teacher not an alleged professional communicating with a senior adult who has not one but two degrees and took the course as an artistic endeavor. When I challenge or made an inquiry about the qualifications and backgrounds of the instructors, mentors and advisors I was sent a posting from their web site regarding accreditation the usual advertising. When I asked about dropping the class and getting my money refunded (last month) I did not get a response at all. ***** is truly a HORRIFIC experience. Paying for the course in full up front was a major mistake. Even after waiting patiently for my drafting supplies I went out and purchased the supplies I needed so that I could proceed. Being told DON'T move forward or proceed until I tell you to is absolutely crazy. BEING TOLD DON'T SEND ME AN ASSIGNMENT OR SUBMISSION UNTIL i ASK FOR IT!. Does she think she's dealing with children or what. Either grade the assignments or don't grade them but don't make the mistake of hiding behind an e-mail like you're the big bad wolf. Obviously some insecure young person who wants to flex because she has a job. The job should come with professionalism and knowing how to talk to students even if you only doing it now through e-mails. Holding up assignments for two - three weeks because you have more than one student is equivalent to holding up progress so that you can prolong the course. It is my understand that the time frame for completing the course is documented. If you fail to complete the course on time (then what?). If you fail to complete the course or time because the student adviser is out in the sun and can't adjust her schedule to do what she's being paid for than the complaints continue. I also noted I received my drafting board damaged. it was replaced but I had already invested in myself. CONSUMER BEWARE! Once ***** gets your money they are not friendly, cooperative or compliant. My next contact will be the owner or the head of the school. Get a handle on student advisers who represent themselves as instructors who can't remember what page they read or review twenty minutes prior to reviewing the old page again and again. I've encountered one person who is very professional and seems to know what she's doing and it certainly is not the person they assigned as my "advisor".
