The Police Athletic League (PAL) is the official youth agency of the New York City Police Department. PAL offers recreational, educational, cultural and social programs to youngsters in New York City's underserved communities. The Police Atheltic League seeks to apply early learning and youth development strategies in order to help youths overcome obstacles. The organization seeks to provide a safe and secure environment for youths to go on to become productive adults. PAL provides its services through 49 full and part time youth centers, 21 summer day camps, 52 summer playsites and 1,500 athletic teams. The organization also conducts four Headstart centers and five Day Care Programs.
