Complaint: Brite Spark was hired to install new electric meter and new electric service panel. He did the install but it was not done to industry standards. It failed an independent inspection. Additionally, he was to return to finish the job, as stated on the receipt, but always had an excuse why he couldn't return or stated a specific time he'd return but would be a no show.

Desired Settlement: For Brite Spark to come back to complete the work to industry standards (the current National Electrical Code) Specifically: 1. The system is not properly grounded. The service panel needs to connected to two grounding rods. 2. Replace the 15 amp GFCI breaker- Brite Spark installed a used GFCI breaker, and other used breakers- but wrote all new breakers on the receipt.. The used GFCI breaker is defective, it constantly trips and is difficult to reset. 3. Replace the 50amp breaker with a 40amp breaker. Brite Spark installed a 50amp breaker on a wire that can only safely carry a 40amp load. 4. On Install a grounding bridge attached to the grounding wire for utilities to hook up to. This is according to the NEC code. 5. Install a cover/conduit body where the main wire enters the house from the electric meterbox. Brite Spark left it open. On the receipt, Brite Spark stated he would return in two days to finish the job but never did. He did not forget to cash my check though. If this is not resolved through the BBB in a timely manner, to the National Electrical Code and to pass an independent electrical inspection, my next step is to have another electrician finish the job. I will also initiate a Smalls Claims Action against Brite Spark for the cost of the second electrician and the re-inspection fee.
