Complaint: I rented a uhual truck from him and the minute i got into the truck it kept pulling it to the right which i thought a was wheel alignment problem. I got 5 minutes away and onto an interstate and the tire exploded and i was forced to pull over with a large 14 foot truck and was wedged between a large stone wall on my right and the interstate just barely touching my driver side. I called their road side service as well as 911 because i did not feel safe sitting the death trap of a truck while 18 wheelers are barely getting past and shaking the truck. The owner (****) persistantly kept telling me to ACTUALLY DRIVE the truck to the next exit because rt. 287 has a tow truck contract that he doesn't use and he didn't want to have to pay them. He wanted me to use his company. I finally drove it very slow and i was very nervous with the truck riding on a rim. After a tow truck came another came as well and they argued over who should get the business. I spent 2 hours waiting for this to be fixed when i only live 6 miles from the place i got it. After all this they charged me full price after not caring about my life. The tow truck driver said the tire was old and dry rotted and it shouldn't have been on there and it was the wheel alignment. After complaining for the past 3 weeks and being ignored the owner is saying its all my fault and there was sidewall damage on the tire. AGAIN let me re-iterate the second i got in the truck it pulled all the way to the right. This owner (****) just doesn't want to be held responsible with someones life. I almost considering legal action

Desired Settlement: i want half knocked off for almost ******* me !!!

Business Response: Dear BBB,

We understand the customer's concern. This customer did rent a U-Haul truck and had a blow out with a tire by hitting the curb.
There was sidewall damage on the tire. U-Haul responded to this call within fifteen minutes. **** is contracted and it was an
option for customer to get to the exit which would've speed things up. U-Haul is responsible for any refunds or discounts owed
to the customer. In our past experience with U-Haul when a customer blows out a tire by hitting the curb, the customer is considered
responsible for the price of the tire and price of the tow. In this case the customer was not charged. We contacted U-Haul's traffic Dept
******* to deal with this matter. Today August **, 2013 we were advised by ******* ###-###-#### at U-Haul traffic that she received
a phone call from **** ****** that he received a full refund from U-Haul International. Any further questions feel free to contact
me at ###-###-####.

I never hit any curb, the second i got in the truck it veered to the right which i thought was a problem with the wheel alignment.  The tire was a bad tire and that was even told to me by the tow truck driver. The tire EXPLODED therfore the sidewall of the tire would be un-recognizable. I was given a half a refund which i wanted to begin with and it was given to me by my credit card co. and a dispute and not by uhaul.

international is responsible for any discounts or refunds owed to the customer.

BBB's Final Determination: Business offered a resolution. Consumer did not pursue further with BBB and the matter was assumed to be resolved
