EZMoney Not So Easy, Warns BBB

April 29, 2014

Recently, Better Business Bureau Serving New Mexico and Southwest Colorado began receiving phones calls about EZMoney Payday Loans. Consumers indicate they were instructed by the company to get a prepaid money card and turn the card information over to the company to use as collateral for a loan. Our office also received a complaint from a consumer who followed those instructions, yet never received the loan she was promised.

EZMoney Payday Loans is using the address 1059 North Avenue, Grand Junction, Colorado 81501. Upon investigation by our office, it appears that this address was formerly used by EZCORP, Inc. doing business as EZMoney Payday Loans. Our office has confirmed with EZCORP, Inc. that the former EZMoney Payday Loans location in Grand Junction closed it's doors in August 2011. Attempts to reach the company using EZCORP’s name and former address have resulted in returned mail by the US Postal Service.

Better Business Bureau Serving New Mexico and Southwest Colorado is warning the public against using the company posing as EZMoney Payday Loans at the Grand Junction address as this appears to be a case of stolen identity. “Identity theft doesn’t just happens to individuals, it can happen to businesses as well,” warned Brian Baca, President of Better Business Bureau Serving New Mexico and Southwest Colorado.

BBB strongly advises consumers against using advanced fee loan services, as often times the offer turns out to be fake. It is illegal for companies doing business by phone in the U.S. to promise you a loan or credit card and ask you to pay for it before they deliver.
