      In the middle of October of 2022, I called to have my three Chimneys cleaned. I was told that due to the high number of requests, I could not be accommodated until November 4th, 2022. When I asked about the going rate, I was told that the information could not be relayed until I answered their questions and would not be placed on the list or even scheduled. I was asked typical information as to my physical address, phone number the type of chimneys, type of roofing, and then and only then was informed that the cost of the works would be $831.21. This information was given to me over the phone by the lady who answered when I called. Two or three days prior to the appointment, meteorologist predicted snow in the East Mountains. I then called twice on two separate dates. My last call was on November 3rd, indicating the harsh conditions that might occur if workers had to be on the roof. I suggested being given a different date to have them cleaned. The lady who answered the phone on that date, consulted with the workers and then she told me that the weather wasn’t a problem. She also indicated that if I chose to change the date, I would have to wait until sometime in December. I agreed to have them come on the day specified despite the weather. The morning of November 4th, I got a call at work indicating that no one was going to perform the work due to the weather. A suggestion I had made twice before. When I called again to reschedule, I was told again they could not do the job until December. I explained that I had been waiting for almost a month and been cancelled and would like accommodations. I even suggested going to another company they could refer me to and I was told that their company was the best because they were certified, and others were merely mom and pop establishments. A girl/woman, named either ****** or ****** , mentioned that they would accommodate me on Saturday November 12, 2022. She stated that there would be two workers. Being that I had three Chimneys that needed to be cleaned. She asked if the tar had been removed from around the chimney area. I told her that no one had been on the roof since one of their workers had been up there the previous year and had mentioned something related to tar. I asked this lady if the cleaning and tar removal was inclusive of the quote given of $839.21 and she state that it was. On Saturday, November 12, 2022, a very windy and cold day, only one worker showed up. I asked the gentleman if there was another worker with him and he mentioned he was the only one that had been sent. He spent four hours or so removing what we think was tar. When asked if he was going to clean the chimneys, he mentioned that he has another appointment to get to and that cleaning would have to be done another day. When I was presented with the bill of $898.64, I asked if this was inclusive of the cleaning that hadn’t been done yet. He indicated that it wasn’t and that would be another $800.00 or so to complete it. As you can predict, I was not a happy customer. The job that he was hired to do was not done, supposedly due to a company policy that existed that tar removal is paramount before cleaning. Your company could have accepted an indemnity from us releasing you from liability if any damage arose from not removing the tar. We consulted our builder and another person who is a roofer and they indicated that the practice was unusual and noted that some tar around the chimney was essential to prevent water leaking and damage occurring on or around the base or into the house. It is noteworthy, that last year, your worker mentioned the tar after cleaning the chimneys. We chose not to have it done (as it not appear to be essential) and due to pending surgeries both my husband and I were having. The usage of the stoves was constant all through the winter and the situation was deemed safe and non-problematical. I received a call early Saturday morning, December 3, 2022, asking to confirm an appointment for December to clean the chimneys. Much to my surprise it was an appointment that I did not make. One the perhaps was left in your company’s booking ledger. Sadly, a man named **** had to listen to my complaint that indicated how unhappy and dissatisfied I was with your company. Several thoughts come to mind. Either the staff that schedules appointments and gives the quotes is uninformed or there is major confusion as to jobs performed and the cost associated with them. Again, I was or reiterate that the staff that answers your phones had quoted me that cleaning and tar removal was including in the original price stated. I find your practices misleading, if not fraudulent. You should held accountable for the actions of your agents and employees. Whomever is in charge of this operation needs to address my situation and make it right. Be assured that if you don’t and or we experience water leaking through or around the chimneys due your tar removal; my attorney, son, or husband will be contacting you to further resolve my claims against your business.
