With reports of strangers posing as meter readers and other utility workers, BBB reminds consumers to insist on seeing a company-issued photo identification card before letting anyone into your home. If you feel you are in danger, contact the police immediately.
Remember. Employees at region’s utilities have photo identification badges that they must display at all times. If you are not sure of an employee’s identity or have difficulty with the badges or to verify that an employee has been dispatched to your home, for PSE&G’s call Help Desk at 973-430-7500, for other companies - look for the number on your bill. Do not confirm using the number on the badge.
