Medicare and Private Insurance plans may reimburse for scooters and electric wheelchairs. To qualify for Medicare coverage, a patient must be bed or wheelchair confined, unable to propel a manual wheelchair and have written documentation of medical necessity from their treating physician. Electric Mobility's Insurance Department offers customer who are bed or chair confined the option of insurance assignment, which allows customers (if they qualify under their Medicare and/or Private Insurance guidelines) to acquire an electric wheelchair for little or no out-of pocket expense. For customers who purchase a Rascal scooter or electric wheelchair who are not bed or chair confined, Electric Mobility's Insurance Department will handle filing a claim with their respective Medicare or Private Insurance plan but there is no guarantee that reimbursement will be made. Electric Mobility makes no claims regarding Medicare or Private Insurance eligibility.
