The credit bureau is required to investigate any information which you report to be incorrect. Any item which is wrong or which can not be verified by the credit bureau must be dropped from your file. You shold understand that items which can be verified by the credit bureau will remain a part of your file for seven years, or for ten years in case of bankruptcy. You have a right to include a short statement in your credit report explaining your side of the situation.
Note: If the credit bureau cannot verify the information within a reasonable time period the information will be removed, but only temporarily. As soon as the information is verified, it can be put back in your report.
