Refunds & Exchanges
The Better Business Bureau cautions consumers not to assume that merchandise purchased from a company can be returned unless this policy is specifically stated by the company. It is up to each retail store to set its own policy with regard to refunds and exchanges. Consumers should understand BEFORE they buy that a store is not obligated to accept items for refund, exchange or credit. Refund and exchange policies vary from store to store, it is up to you, the customer, to ask about the policy prior to making a purchase, and then deal with companies whose return policy is acceptable to you. You should be aware that refund policies usually require that the merchandise be returned within a specific period of time and in good condition. In all cases, KEEP PURCHASE RECEIPTS. If there is any doubt about the store's policy, get it in writing when you make your purchase. Do not confuse refund/exchange policies with written warranties, which are promises from the retailer and/or manufacturer to repair or replace products which are defective. If a new product does not work, return it to the retailer. In most cases, the retailer will work with you; or the store may refer you directly to the manufacturer of the product for a repair or replacement. You should purchase from companies known to be reliable. If you do not know about a company, take the time to check out its reputation before you buy.
