Halcomb Homes was the worst experience I have ever had when dealing with an organization. Their communication, or lack-thereof, was frustrating and non-existent. The initial conversations we had with the owner Rick, did not transfer to his son Trent, who took over when the building started. I had to track down Trent to get hold of him, and it took a while. Trying to communicate with him was EXCRUTIATING. As we worked on our "custom" build, Trent continued to build the house different than what we agreed upon. I constantly tried to set up meetings to get us on the same page and it never happened. As our frustration grew, Trent responded with this emoji ********* and said via email "I can't be responsible for what I mis-read in an email." (It's the only way I could get a response from him). After building differently than what we agreed upon on our "custom" build, Trent told us he wanted to part ways and we were kicked out of our new home before it was done. Throughout the 6 months we wasted, houses jumped up in price and we're stuck looking for a home again at much higher prices.
Halcomb Homes is the most difficult and untrustworthy company I have ever dealt with. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE WORK WITH THEM.

    Halcomb Homes, LLC Response

    05/13/2022

    Dear BBB
Thank you for the opportunity to respond to Mr. ********** comment. As you know by Halcomb Homes past three decades track record, we continue to build quality homes with the satisfaction of our customer at the foremost. When Mr. ******** came to us with the interest of building a new home we offered Lot **** located in Fairway Farms. We had a plan chosen for that lot already approved and ready to build. Mr. ******** wanted to change the plan an build another plan we offer. We agreed and incurred a few thousand dollars expense to do so even with the fact Mr. ******** would need to sale his present home before he could purchase the Halcomb Home. Even with out a price or sales contract we allowed Mr. ******** to make some changes and additions at no cost to him. The true problem arose when Mr. ******** wanted two fifty + year old trees removed in the backyard that joined the backdoor neighbor in which the HOA had already said would be disallowed. With Mr. ******** present home not being sold and the dissatisfaction of the the situation we felt it was time to terminate our relationship. PS: at no time did we have a written contract or ever agreed on a sales price with the ******** family. We wish them good fortune in satisfying there housing needs in the future. Respectfully, Rick H******

    BBB-
We never spoke with Rick once we agreed on what "custom" home we verbally decided to build on the lot. The process moved over to his son Trent, who was unreachable most of the time. I expressed my desire to meet with him many times so we could put a contract together and get it on paper. Trent always dodged my calls/email to my frustration and we never met to go over details and put a contract together. Regarding the sale of my present home, I was pre-approved without any contingencies to purchase their home, it had no bearing whatsoever. Regarding the trees in the backyard, all we did was ask if they could be removed and if the backyard could be leveled, as the backyard was minimal and unusable due to where the home was positioned on the lot. The message of these trees being removed being disallowed by the HOA was never communicated to us. I have the email to prove all of this, along with Trent's multiple use of the ********* "I don't care" emoji. In Trent's email, he sent us the price he just sold the exact home (with upgrades) on the same street for and is currently selling this home for 20% more. Halcomb Homes left us feeling taken advantage of without the slightest apology or care.
