A/C unit was leaking and the service technician filled it with $180 of 410a even though the coil was leaking. Invoice: QXXXXX, Service date: 5/29/13, Invoice date: 6/25/13

The technician arrived and found that the coil was leaking 410a and said the indoor coil would need to be replaced. Quoted $650 and said it would take 4 hours to replace plus the cost of 410a. I signed his quote but later found out that he put $180 of 410a into an AC unit that was leaking 410a. I called the company and spoke with ***** ******* who was extremely rude and would not let me speak. She continuously yelled at me and said "well you signed the sheet". I asked her multiple times why the technician would put 410a into a leaking unit and her only response was, you signed the sheet. I asked to speak with someone else to get this resolved and she said she is the only one that would handle it. I then said I would like to get answers and have this resolved but she was very unwilling to cooperate. I told her I would be contacting BBB and she again said, you signed the sheet.

Desired Settlement
They are completely taking advantage of a customer that has no idea about AC units. I should not be responsible for the $180 worth of 410a they put into a leaking system, knowing that it was run out.

Business' Initial Response
Per Service Tech. Homeowner was told prior to adding freon that unit was 4 lbs low. Homeowner asked how long the freon would last in system. Technician advised the homeowner that he could not give a answer on that. Homeowner watched the Technician weight the jug of freon as he was adding it to the system. Homeowner knew the unit was low on freon and had a leak when technician arrived on site. Technician leaked checked the unit for the leak. Technician didn't charge homeowner for the leak test he performed. Homeowner asked for the price of the freon before they had us come out to there home. Service ticket that the homeowner signed states that technician added 4 lbs of R-410a freon at $180.00 and that it would cost $650.00 to replace the coil. Technician went over all of this with homeowner and they signed the ticket on 5/29/13 to accept the work that had been performed. It is my position at the homeowner knew all the facts and approved the work that was done, by signing the service ticket.
