Beware when purchasing tickets to Hawaii

The Better Business Bureau serving Mississippi (BBB) has received several complaints and inquiries regarding Travel Service’s business practices. The company, which is located at 45 Hardy Court #2816, Gulfport, MS is advertising in a local newspaper and offering low price deals to Hawaii.

Complainants alleged the company offers packages for $199 or more, but later realize the price for travel is actually higher than what was listed or quoted when they try to book the reservations. They also have trouble getting the company to respond to phone calls and emails. Complainants also stated they were told the travel deals are non-refundable AFTER the travel voucher/ticket had been purchased.

One consumer stated he received a "voucher" instead of the actual travel tickets that were advertised in a local newspaper. "Misrepresentation of the price of lodging was over three times the normal price for lodging", stated another consumer.

BEFORE BOOKING WITH A TRAVEL AGENCY - The BBB urges consumers to read the contract or application carefully before signing an agreement. Determine all costs involved in using a vacation certificate or voucher. Make sure the contract states whether you will be paying for lodging, meals, transportation from your “home” to the airport as well as from the airport to the vacation site, port taxes and any other additional fees, such as higher rates for “Peak Tourist Seasons.” Before traveling, confirm all arrangements directly with the airlines or cruise lines, hotels or resorts, as well as with restaurants and resort attractions offering discount or other coupons. Ask the vacation certificate promoter what happens if the hotel or other accommodations are completely booked. If a refundable deposit is required, find out when and how you get it back.
