On Wednesday, June 15th we had our pet spayed at Picayune Veterinary clinic. We picked her up that afternoon and was told she was to keep the cone on her for 2 weeks. On Friday I noticed that one of the stitches has come unstitched, not broken but came loose. We called the office and was told that she would be okay, to keep the cone on. We asked about something to keep her calm and was told to give her 2 benadryl every 8 hours. On Sunday we woke up to find her stomach was open, the stitches complete opened up. I called the clinic and the machine told me they were closed and I could take her to one of 3 locations they refer to if it was an emergency. Still wearing the cone as instructed we headed out. The first place we went to looked at her and we were quoted a price of 3500.00 for it to be fixed. After talking with the vet there, she referred us to another local vet to have it repaired that would not cost as much. We spent the day getting the surgery needed to repair the open area. I was informed by the doctor that only 2 stitches were used to close the spay. She restitched the area with multiple stitches and glued the area closed. We were also given pain medication and sedatives (as we should have been from the start). When my husband went to the vet to be reimbursed for the charges, he was told by the owner they would not pay it. She also said the receptionist told her that we were told to bring her in (which we were not). So, we are now out all the money for the initial surgery and the second surgery to repair the first one that wasn't closed up properly. They did not offer anything other than, she has been doing this for over 12 years and she does them all this way. No help, and a staff that will lie to cover up what she should have said on Friday.
