United Way Member Agencies - Local Funds Helping Local Agencies
When donations are received, a committee of volunteers evaluate the needs of the community. Based on their recommendations and the approval of the Board of Directors, they distribute those donations to programs that have successfully passed the application process and are actively meeting community needs.
United Way Member Agencies include children's homes, food pantries, emergency resources and assistance and programs that promote health and independence.
United Way Venture Grant Recipients - Special local funding for local needs
In addition to providing funds to their Member Agencies, they also make smaller grants available to other local non-profits groups.

These Community Focus Programs include:
Arts Across the Ages Program serves as a center for cultural, dramatic, and fine arts for children, youth and adults in Monroe County.
Families First Resource Center's goal is to strengthen and preserve the family unit. The program components include Healthy Marriage Education, Parenting Education, Responsible Fatherhood Education, Abstinence Education, Support Group meetings and a lending library.
Student Nursing Academy is designed to prepare sutdents ages 18-21 fpr a career in nursing.
Scouting Venture Grants encourage participation in scouting in Monroe County by providing funds for camper ships, uniforms, equipment.
Way to Work: Workforce Trainng Skills for Youth is designed to lead youth to self-sufficiency through GED attainment; full-time, long-term employment; and/or post-secondary educational opportunities.
