Mission

The mission of the Mississippi Kidney Foundation, chartered in 1965, is to serve Mississippi kidney patients by providing quality programs and services, to provide education and screening to promote the prevention of kidney disease, and to promote organ donation throughout the state.

Programs

The Mississippi Kidney Foundation must diligently search for ways and means to provide financial and emotional support for their patients. With the support of Mississippi Kidney Foundation's community partners and volunteers, they are able to maintain ongoing, active programs and services, tailored to meet the specialized needs of kidney patients and those at increased risk of kidney failure. To that end, every dollar continues to be carefully spent where it can provide the maximum amount of support to those who call on them for help and hope.

PATIENT PROGRAMS & SERVICES: Crisis Intervention Fund, Transplant Emergency Fund, Nutritional Supplement Program, Forward Bound, Annual Walk, Medical Identification Jewelry, Patient Family Picnic, Professional Advisory Board, Pediatric Nephrology Christmas Party, and Kidney Connection Quilt.

PUBLIC & PATIENT PROGRAMS: Free Kidney Disease Screening, Educational Materials, Kidney Patient Connection Newsletter, Southern Comforts of Mississippi cookbook, Annual Kidney Connection Calendar, Patient and Public Policy Advocacy, Annual Patient Meetings, Professional Symposiums, and Organ Donation Awareness.

"Invest in Your Future" is their GED Program that is offered to dialysis patients, and kidney transplant patients who did not finish high school.  The MKF will pay $40.00 test fee.  Once the GED is aquired, the MKF will give the patient a $250 cash incentive.

"Care & Share" Program is where they distribute blankets, insulated totes, nylon totes, etc to dialysis patients across the state.

"Binder Reminder" Program is where they distribute pill boxes for binder pills for dialysis patients across the state.

Renal Vitamin Program is their pilot program to distribute renal vitamins for kidney patients.
