Goodwill Industries of Mississippi assists people with disabilities and other barriers to obtain employment.


Goodwill retail sales provide training, employment, and educational opportunities to people with disabilities and other barriers to obtain employment. Revenues generated are reinvested into programs that put people to work, helping them achieve independence, dignity and strength. Goodwilll stores also provide the community with clothing, furniture, accessories and household items. Collecting, processing, and reselling donated material is still an integral part of Goodwill's method. Goodwill offers: retail training, computer input, assembly subcontracting, exporting clothing and shoes to Africa, Haiti and Mexico, selling wipers and cleaning cloths, and distributes the Amigo Wheelchair. Last year, Goodwill Industries delivered employment services to 287 individuals facing physical, mental and economic barriers to self-sufficiency.

2012-2014 Strategic Plan (Summary Points)

Goal 1 - We will grow our mission in support of our clients, employees and other stakeholders within the community in order to assist in the improvement of the Goodwill brand.
1.1 Objective:  Increase the number of people (clients) served through our mission services.
1.2 Objective:  Educate the community about what Goodwill does through our stores and other means.
1.3 Objective:  Improve the customer experience of shoppers and donors.

Goal 2 - We will assure our financial success in support of our mission.
2.1 Objective:  Continuing to refine the metrics for measuring financial success and mission services outcome.
2.2 Objective:  Expand the number of store locations and increase market penetration.
2.3 Objective:  Improve all store revenues through increased donations both quality and quanity.
2.4 Objective:  Maintain cash reserves of $750,000 by 2014.

Goal 3 - We will engage, develop and support employees and board members in order to grow and support the mission.
3.1 Objective:  Improve benefits, work conditions  and other incentives for employees.
3.2 Objective:  Establish a management recruitment, retention and training plan.
3.3 Objective:  Establish a succession plan for identification of quality candidates to fill key positions.
3.4 Objective:  Develop an internal communications plan for the organization to convey our strategic direction.
3.5 Objective:  Increase employee involvement in the community.

Goal 4 - We will improve efficiencies and implement systems to support the mission growth.
4.1 Objective:  Modernize and streamline internal policies and procedures.
4.2 Objective:  Ensure meeting all compliance requirements.
4.3 Objective:  Improve and update technology for the organization.
