Fundraising Methods

Friends of Children’s Hospital raises funds for Batson Children’s Hospital primarily through special events. They host several special events in metro Jackson and are also the recipients of funds from events hosted by caring businesses and groups.

An Evening with the Mannings, Presented by BankPlus, showcased the five-year commitment to raise $2.5 million to construct the Eli Manning Children’s Clinics at Batson Children’s Hospital. The Eli Manning Children’s clinics opened in 2009 and serve Mississippi children for everything from an annual check-up to outpatient dialysis.

Friends of Childen's Hospital and the Home Builder's Association of Jackson, the Batson Hospital for Children MiracleHome has quickly become Friends’ largest annual fundraiser. Each year, the MiracleHome committee works with the Home Builder’s Association of Jackson and a volunteer builder to construct a new home which is given away. Fabulous secondary prizes are also part of the prize package.

The Trustmark Children’s Hospital Pro-Am Golf Tournament is one of Friend’s major fundraisers and one of the largest tournaments in the region. Simultaneous play at Annandale Golf Club, Reunion Golf Club and The Country Club of Jackson ensures a great day of golf for everyone! New sponsors, teams and volunteers are always needed.

The Light-A-Light project, the oldest Friends fund-raising event, was created in 1989 by founding members of the board. Anyone can “light a light“ on the Batson Hospital Christmas Tree with a $10 contribution. These brightly colored lights shine on the large tree in front of the children's hospital. An acknowledgment card will be sent to the honoree or to the family of the person memorialized. There is also a separate tree of Eternal Lights that one may also choose to light with a special contribution of $250. Eternal Lights shine brightly every year with the name of the person honored. Each Eternal Light honoree will be remembered annually at the lighting of the tree.

Held on alternate years, the Enchanted Evening Gala is a beautiful night of delicious treats, soothing music, lavish gifts and give-aways. The gala, which began in 1999, brings together members of the community interested in supporting the Batson Hospital.

In 2005, the Mississippi State Tax Commission issued a specialty license plate which benefits the Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children. Each plate costs $31 above the normal cost of a regular license tag, with $24 going to the Friends of Children's Hospital.

Employees at SouthGroup Insurance Services just wanted to do something to help. That is what they will tell you. Their fundraiser, the SouthGroup 5K Run/Walk, has raised more than $65,000 in only three short years. The race is held annually at the headquarters in Ridgeland, and the employees could not be happier with the results. And neither could Friends.

The first “Rocking for Children’s Hospital” Benefit, Presented by Southern Halo in Cleveland, MS was a rocking success. A large crowd enjoyed great food, a silent auction and live performances by Southern Halo and Nashville recording artist Phil Vaught.

Friends of Children’s Hospital is the named charity for The True South Classic, Mississippi’s only PGA TOUR golf tournament scheduled for July 16-22 at Annandale Golf Club in Madison, MS.
