Mission

The mission of Catholic Charities, Inc. is to be a visible sign of Christ’s love and concern for all people and to provide social and educational services to persons in need in Central and Northern MS.

Programs

Adoption/Maternity Care

Adoption Services are provided for those seeking to open their homes and hearts to children.  Their services include domestic and international home studies, pre and post placement services for adoptive families, services to birth parents, and counseling, which is available throughout the life of an adopted child.

Maternity Care Services are provided to those women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy.  We can assist with confidential prenatal counseling, exploring parenting options, adoption planning, and referrals.

Infant Foster Care Services are provided on a short term basis for infants pending adoptive placement or reunification with birth families.

Children's Mental Health Services

The Trauma Recovery for Youth Project offers training and implementation support for community mental health centers providing evidence-based practices.

Crisis Response and Outreach offers crisis intervention services including 24 hour telephone and mobile crisis response with on-site intervention at the convenience of the family in crisis.

Hope Haven Home-Based provides counseling and service coordination to families whose children have a mental health diagnosis.

Hope Haven Residential provides residential services in a therapeutic crisis center.  Services involve short-term respite with individual and family therapy.

Therapeutic Foster Care offers intensive in-home services designed to help children in DHS custody with serious emotional disorders develop the skills needed to function in the home and community settings.

Women and Violence

Catholic Charities operates shelters in Jackson and Natchez, MS for individuals and families fleeing domestic violence.  Both shelters provide case management, counseling, daycare, emergency housing, and legal services (Jackson).

Rape Crisis Centers are available in Jackson and Natchez to assist victims of sexual assault with support and therapeutic intervention.  Victims and their families can receive short and long-term counseling and advocacy. 

Alcohol and Drug Services

Born Free Primary Treatment provides residential treatment to pregnant and/or parenting women recovering from chemical addictions.

New Beginnings Transitional Treatment provides extended residential treatment to pregnant and/or parenting women who have successfully completed primary treatment.

The Solomon Counseling Center

The Solomon Counseling Center services are available to any individual, couple or family needing support in dealing with issues that affect their quality of life.  Specialized treatment is available for children and adolescents who have experienced trauma of any type.

The Office of Family Ministry works with parishes to provide a variety of services that support and minister to families.  The following programs are offered: When Families Marry - Redeeming State - REFOCCUS

Refugee Services

Unaccompanied Refugee Minors Program is a long-term therapeutic foster care program for refugee children from war torn countries and individuals seeking political asylum.

Parish Based Ministries

Parish Social Ministry is rooted in social justice education.  This office offers educational workshops and advocacy assistance to parishes.

Office of Parish Health Ministry assists individual parishes establishing their own health ministries through the efforts of parish nurses and other volunteers; and helps individuals find resources for medical needs that are not easily addressed.

The Immigration Clinic is accredited by the Board of Immigration Appeals and maintains a permanent office in Jackson, MS.  Although the clinic specializes in family-based immigration services, the office is also a vocal advocate for immigrant rights, provides outreach services and education to immigrant and non-immigrant communities and maintains a bilingual staff to offer interpreters/translators for immigrant families and community entities.

Disaster Preparedness and Response offers parish-based preparedness and response training.  Disaster response services are offered in disaster-affected communities based on community needs and resources available.  Services include Psychological First Aid and case management recovery if resources become available.

Natchez Office

The Catholic Charitites Natchez office offers an array of services including the Guardian Sexual Assault Center, Guardian Battered Families Shelter, Counseling, Emergency Assistance, Supportive Housing and the Guardian Thrift Store.

Northeast Office

The Catholic Charities office located in Vardaman, MS offers general social services that strive to strengthen families, including Latin American immigrants, in rural populations.  Services include resources, referrals, advocacy, empowerment and educational opportunities.
