Citywide Towing in Brooklyn Park MN is an organized fraud. I have heard that they have very rude and unprofessional staff at multiple levels. There are also allegations that some of their staff deliberately vandalize vehicles they towed to their storage yard. I have also heard of instances in which the company charge exorbitant fees related to towing and storage that cumulatively exceed the book value of the vehicles they towed, primarily to discourage the vehicle owner from retrieving the vehicle; the company would then impound and dispose of the vehicle in lieu of these charges. I had a very unpleasant experience with Citywide Towing on 10/22/2021. A family member was the restrained driver and lone occupant of my vehicle that was struck by another driver at a traffic intersection in Maple Grove MN. Due to damages to both vehicles, Police ordered to have both vehicles towed and, unfortunately, Citywide Towing towed both vehicles. It is pertinent to point out that THE DISTANCE FROM THE SCENE OF THE ACCIDENT TO CITYWIDE TOWING GARAGE IN BROOKLYN PARK IS LESS THAN 10 (TEN) MINUTES. Out of abundance of caution, I immediately went to Citywide Brooklyn Park less than an hour after the vehicle was towed there to retrieve the vehicle. After presenting my driver's license to the lady behind a Plexiglas at the front office, she informed me that the I'd have to pay $346.07 to have the vehicle released to me. I politely asked her why they would charge such a huge fee for such a short distance and minimal labor. I was also aware that the tow truck driver did not do any significant cleaning at the accident scene; besides, the vehicle could start and was driven onto the flat bed by the tow truck driver. The lady angrily snapped that I was being charged based on the company's policy and that I should direct my questions or concerns to my insurance company. I was utterly shocked! I then asked the lady to let me inside their secured yard so that I can remove our personal belongings inside the vehicle. She obliged and let me in. Because of the long distance from the gate where the vehicle was stored, I did request for the key to move the vehicle closer to the gate to enable me readily transfer our personal belongings from the damaged vehicle to another vehicle with relative ease. Again, the lady obliged. Just as I was about done, a thick set, middle-aged man emerged from the rear office and asked me whether I was the one who parked my (damaged) vehicle there. I answered in the affirmative and I told him why I had to pull it closer and also explained to him that I was done but just needed to go to the front office and pay the fee to have the vehicle released so that I can have another tow truck pick it up. He yelled and ordered me to move the vehicle back to the spot where it was originally parked. He would not listen to me any bit but kept yelling that I would not get out of the yard unless I moved the vehicle as ordered. At that point, I asked him whether he intended to imprison me inside their storage yard as I would not move the vehicle since it was not blocking traffic or anything for that matter. Again, I reiterated that I wanted them to open the electric gate, so that I can walk to their front office just a few yards away and then pay the fee, then go back into the yard and take my vehicle. The thick set man became somewhat abusive and belligerent. At that point, I ignored him and stood where I was. After he rambled for few minutes, and realizing how senseless his demand was, he radioed the front office and they let me out. I immediately paid them and had the vehicle released. However, I was alarmed by the fact that parts of the vehicle--whether damaged or still intact following the accident--were missing and could not be accounted for. Specifically, the front bumper reinforcement metal rebar; the front bumper assembly and the grille with insert simply vanished. When I asked for them, the staff rudely replied that they trashed them but would not tell me where these items were trashed less than one hour after the vehicle arrived at their storage yard. I make bold to say that Citywide Towing in Brooklyn Park is a dangerous company to do business with. I would never recommend the company to anybody and I would advise folks needing towing services to avoid them at all cost.
