    Minnesota Dept. of Labor & Industry Consent Order

    On October 13, 2021, the business entered into a Consent Order with the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry (DLI). The Consent Order settles allegations that the business violated Minn. Stat. 326B.082, subd. 11(b)(8)(9); 326B.33, subd. 12 and 326B.36 (2020). Under terms of the Consent Order, the business agreed to ensure that each individual who performs electrical work for the business holds a valid master or journeyworker license or is a registered unlicensed electrician and provide direct supervision of unlicensed employees as required by Minn. Stat. 326B.33, subp. 12(a) and ensure that all required electrical permits are filed and all requests for inspections are completed when the work is performed. The business shall pay $4,000.00 of a $10,000.00 civil penalty, with the balance stayed on the condition that the business complies with the terms of the Consent Order and has no future violations of any law, rules or orders under DLI's responsibility.  The Consent Order was for settlement purposes only and should not be considered as an admission of guilt or finding of violation of the law.       In 2015 I bought a Halo whole house water filtration system from a company that was called Uptown. Since then they have changed their logo and name to ****************** There is a 10 year warranty on the tube. It has stopped regenerating so it is not softening the water. There is huge build up on my appliances and faucets. I called Hero and they confirmed that they use to be Uptown and could come out to fix the issue. ***** came out on Tuesday, December 25 at 8:00am. He came in to work on it but said he had to call the headquarters in ********** and he would get back to me the next day. He said that Maple Grove has very hard water and I said that is why I bought the Halo. He called me the next day. He had spoken to headquarters and they said it is not under warranty because of the hard water in Maple Grove so they would not fix it. ***** asked if I knew that when I bought it and of course they sold it to me anyway knowing it would not be under warranty when it would stop regenerating. I have found them to be untrustworthy as Uptown and now as Hero. They offered me some money off of a new water softener and I said not because I don't believe a word they say. I was sold that unit under the belief that there is a 10 year warranty on the unit and nothing was said that the warranty would be void because of the hard water. The Model is Halo 5 Stage-1". I would like the tube part to be replaced which could last another 8 years. Thank you so much for your help.

      DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY. We had our pilot light on our boiler go out and after an hour of work where they vacuumed out the bottom of the boiler, turned three valves, and added more water, they charged $600, but at least the boiler was working again. Not an hour later, a pressure release valve exploded and water leaked all over our basement. I called, was placed on hold and then they hung up on me. I called back three times until I got a hold of someone who said there is no one that can help me on this Friday night, but I will be called back on Saturday. I received a call back Saturday morning and was told they have no one available to come out and see us which means we have no heat over Easter weekend. I asked to speak with a manager and the person I was speaking with wouldn't give me a name or number. The lady I spoke with on Saturday was not kind, not empathetic, and quickly became defensive. I asked for a refund and she also said that was not possible. I will never work with this company again. The least they could do is give me my $600 back since it did not fix the problem and I was told if the boiler is not working from their clean and water refill, that I would not be charged.
