Took my $75 payment required by warranty company. Refused to do the work.
hired by my warranty co. arrived and demanded $75 before starting job, then left stating he couldn't do job that day. He lied to me saying he had authorization from my home warranty co. to do the work. I called my warrranty co. and they told me he was not given authorization to do work until he diagnosed the problem completely. Upon trying to rescedule him to return he kept changing the appointments, leaving me without hot water in the bathrooms. In the end he lied to the warranty company, who took him off my job and gave me the money to hire another plumber. He was consecending and rude to me while at my home.

Desired Settlement
$75 he took from me and did not do any work in my home.

As the complaint states the $75 service fee is required by HER warranty company NOT DeVines Plumbing Service.They also require me to assess the problem and give them a report with why the problem exists and pricing on the repair before I am to start any work. The problem that she was having could have been caused by a few different spots in the hot water piping system.I decided that the first and least expensive thing would be to remove a valve that was located behind a sheet rock ceiling. Sense it was the end of the day I was not going to have time to finish that job so I would have to return to do that job. I usually call the warranty company at the end of the day to take care of all the jobs I did that day and get all of the pricing for the jobs that I need to get autho on in one phone call. But the customer refused to pay the service charge till I called and got the autho. She didn't believe me that it was due ether way. So I called and got a partial autho while she was trying to get a hold of customer service.Then I offered her a Friday appointment but she said she could not get off of work and refused to make the appointment at that time.(Wednesday at around 4:00).I did offer to work after hours at her expense but she also refused that. On Thursday about 1:00 or so I got a text from her telling me to call her "representative" to schedule the appointment.Her "Representative" Called me moments later and asked what time I would be there on Friday. I told him that we did not have appointment on Friday and I would have to call him back when I had my schedule with me to let him know when I could get over there.He felt the need to inform me he was a sheriff and he didnot want to sit around there all day waiting for me.When I called him back I told him the only time I could guaranty was on Monday morning at 8:00. He excepted that time. Then after 2 phone calls and 1 email I sent a confirmation text to her on the Monday appointment. She replied there would be no appointment and not to contact her again. She also said that the warranty company was going to compensate her and I was to go ahead and cash her check.
I think she did not look at her contract to see there is a process and service charge with HER contract with HER warranty.
As to being condescending and rude I have been thinking about that and I think she rates in the top 5 of the most difficult customers I have had to deal with in the 7 years I have been working with the public.

Rude and insulting, told one thing to me and another to AHS
This company was assigned to repair my shower. Upon coming in he told me that with a shower leak he was concerned there could be mold but he wasn't sure. He wanted to check on the policy with AHS and upon calling them he told them there WAS mold and that he couldn't do the repair. He never assessed the problem or did anything other than look/poke at the ceiling. I called AHS after not hearing anything for a week and was told there was mold so my claim was denied. I told them what he told me and they told me what he told them and the stories didn't line up. They said they were going to call him to check the story, and somehow I ended up on a three way call and I have never been spoken to so rudely. he was beligerant, rude, condescending, and inappropriate. I told AHS they needed to get him off the line immediately. They wouldn't listen to what I had to say despite his awful display of rudeness.

As a result, I had to cut open the ceiling myself to prove there was no mold. Upon doing that AHS reopened the claim and informed me the same person would have to come out or I would have to pay yet another fee. I reluctantly allowed him back into my house and was told it was an issue where the drain connected to the shower. He said he'd get the paperwork filed and call his partner because he'd need two people to do the job (which I later found out was a lie).

I never heard back from him and I had to call AHs once again after not hearing anything for days. I was told it wasn't covered. I told them what I was told and the stories again didn't line up so I asked for a second opinion and had someone else come out (whom I had to pay another $75 for). Turns out it wasn't covered which I would have known if he hadn't lied to me up front. Now I am out $150 in fees plus the cost to do the repairs because he was dishonest with me at every step of the process.

His experience gave me a horrible perception of American Home Shield which has since been restored, somewhat. I can't imagine how someone could survive treating customers like that so I hope that this was an isolated incident.

I am sorry that you feel this way but there are a few key points that I think need to be understood by all parties now involved.I was sent to your home by AHS to investigate a leak.With the limited time you have been in the home and not knowing how long this leak has been going on and the softness of the sheet rock I was concerned that there might be mold in the ceiling.As a contractor I am taking on a lot of liability opening up a ceiling that I feel could have mold in it not to mention that it is in your kids play room.I have to error on the side of safety so that's what I did.I also told your warranty company that there may be mold in the ceiling I could not see in the ceiling to be sure.
I also need to point out that the contract that you have with your warranty company states that they will inform you of any denials on claims. That is not my responsibility and I have no control over if they call you in a timely fashion or not.
I am also upset and have had a conversation with my supervisor with the warranty company about putting us on a three way call with out telling ether of us before hand.
As to the leak.When I was out there the second time I showed you the leak with a flash light so there was no question as to where it was.I knew that you were upset with the situation and made sure that you saw what I was seeing and explained it to you.I also explained that I would give AHS the report of my findings so they could make a decision on coverage.
As to the $75 service fee your contract states that it is due upon arrival of the contractor to your home.I also think that the leak was explained to you the first time so the second opinion was your choice.
