Always ask the following: -How long has the contractor been in business?
-Does the contractor cost estimate include paint and related materials or only labor cost related to the job?
-Did the contractor explain the techniques to be used?
-Does the contractor have liability insurance, if so call the insurance company and verify a current policy?
-Can the contractor provide you with a list of at least 5 references? Call the references to check with the satisfaction of past customers.
-How and when does the contractor expect payment?
-Will there be a guarantee on the work performed?
-What specifically does the guarantee cover?
-What brand of paint is to be used? Does the manufacturer recommend this paint this particular surface/job?
-Do you have a written contract? If so, does it include all the specifics regarding your job such as cost per room, cost for removing old surface, and cost of paint and related supplied?
-Does the contractor have a current license - Call the business license office in the county where the work is to be performed.
