topNewspaper article 2/24/2010:
FEDS RAID MINNESOTA MUSICIAN'S INTERNET BUSINESS
Federal agents raided a downtown Minneapolis business owned by a well-known local musician Tuesday.
The Secret Service suspects that iNetGlobal may be a massive Ponzi scheme.
The company is owned Steve Renner, who Minnesotans may know as the blues guitarist with the Renegades, but who thousands around the world know as an internet marketing guru.
Renner appears in online videos promising to make people money through internet advertising. Interested people pay $2,000 to become members of iNetGlobal.
The company claims to have more than 66,000 members.
Tuesday, 2/23/2010, the Secret Service spent three hours at iNetGlobal and seized the company's bank accounts.
Officials said money in those accounts will be used for "disbursements to victims... that are traceable to this Ponzi scheme."
Renner's attorney told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS, he and his client are shocked and saddened by the raid and hope the company will be back in business soon.
Renner has had previous legal problems. He was recently convicted of four counts federal tax evasion. He is awaiting sentencing.
The BBB has not received any additional information regarding the status of this incident.
