Complaint: I was having a problem with how my central air unit was draining, The sales manager **** said he would come out and check it out at no charge. I had purchased a central air unit from Snelling company and was unaware of the proper draining of the condenser. A plastic tube was hanging down from the unit draining into a bucket not into a drain hole in the floor. I was informed by a inspector that the drain needed to be inserted into a drain in the floor. I went in to Snelling company and explained the problem with the sales manager ****, he stated that he would come out the following day at no charge. He did come out and stated via cell phone that he would have fixed the drain for free if I was home. He told me how to put the tube into the drain myself. Three days later I received a bill for $89 for a service visit. I contacted him at the time and he told me that he did not mean for them to bill me. He was very rude and would not listen to anything I had to say. I had told him that his customer service was very bad for someone that referred many people to their company, He made racist statements about my family and home. And told me that I was the stupid one that put a wall up behind my condenser unit. His nasty attitude and rudeness due to making a billing mistake is very unacceptable.
Desired Settlement: I would like a formal apology from the sales manager's comments and disrespect.Have the drain tube for the condenser properly installed into the drain. And to have the bill of $89 dismissed.
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/09/12) */ This Customer's initial complaint was that her air conditioner drain issues were caused by our installation. That installation was twelve (12) years ago. It was also determined upon visiting her home that changes to the home's configuration (walls were erected too close to the furnace) since the install and this is what caused the drain issue. The customer was not at home when our technician visited her home and he did not have an opportunity to explain the situation to her. Snelling Company's policy is to charge a diagnosis charge of $89.00 if the problem is not of our making. Pictures from our original install show that no wall existed when we installed the furnace. Additionally, St. Paul City records show that our installation was inspected by the city inspecotrs and passed for proper installation. We are sorry for the lack of communication between the Snelling Company and Ms. ******, however, we believe that we reacted to her concerns correctly. We will removed the $89.00 charge from her account as a show of good faith. The Snelling Company.
