Complaint: Sales promised product in 3 days for a special order. Not available after 2.5 weeks. Ordered flooring on 6/28 (a Sunday) at the Roseville store. Told salesperson that I needed the flooring quickly and was not going to order. He assured me that the flooring would be available to pick up at the Roseville store Wednesday, or Friday at the latest. In order to place the order they have you sign a contract saying it is not their fault if the order never arrives. Stopped by the store Wednesday to pick up the flooring and it was not in. The Friday was actually the 4th of July, the store was closed. Called the store Monday 7/7 and was told that the floor was not in, it would be in on Monday the 14th. Stopped by the store Monday the 14th, the floor was not in. Three salespeople were making phone calls at the same time to determine where the floor was and they could not figure it out. I asked to cancel the order Monday the July 14th. I was told that if the order had shipped I could not cancel. I asked that they determine where the order was, and cancel it if it had not shipped. I was told that the order had shipped and that it would be in 16th and that the manager himself would drive to the corporate office to pick up the order, and I could get it the 17th at the Roseville store. Stopped in the store on the 17th, the order was not there. Asked the store manager where the order was. He could not determine where the order was. Discussed the best course of action with the store manager. He agreed that disputing the order via credit card was the best course of action since they could not seem to locate the flooring. Disputed the order via credit card.

Desired Settlement: Refund my money. Admit to future customers that when you place an order you have no clue when it will come, and it could be a month.

Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/09/17) */ Ms. *******, Thank you for moderating this complaint. We will refund Mr. *********'s credit card in full, as he requested. We should have done a much better job tracking his order, and we are very sorry for our customer's inconvenience. Thank you for your help. Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/09/17) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The issue with the order had little to do with tracking. The issue is that Carpet King does not know when orders will arrive. They should not promise an order in 2-3 days when they have no clue when it will arrive and it could take weeks. The business model to gain my sale was: 1. Promise the customer a quick delivery. 2. Have the customer sign a contract that says the order cannot be cancelled once shipped. Any shipping issue is the customer's problem, not Carpet King's, and that essentially Carpet King has no obligation to ever deliver product. 3. Refuse to track the product, that way the order cannot be cancelled. Since, it's possible that the product shipped, the order can't be cancelled. 4. Refuse to cancel the order, if the customer won't pay, threaten them with the contract. Fight the customer if they try and reverse charges, even if they have never received a product, waited weeks for product that was promised in days. I've reversed the charges on my credit card. Future potential customers should be aware of the tactics Carpet King will employ before doing business with them.
