I brought my car in for a suspected timing chain. **** and ******'s put a timing chain in and the car still was not running right. (#4 piston had no compression) I was told it could be a valve and they could not vouch for any further damage. I was told they put a scope down that cylinder and found nothing. I then took the car to another mechanic who I trust. They removed the head. They found the top of the piston damaged and the cylinder wall permanently damaged. (New motor is the fix) I asked the mechanic IF the damage can be seen through a scope (his answer was YES) THE same cylinder and piston ****'s scoped and told me it was fine. I asked IF diagnostics should be done before a timing chain and was told yes by the other mechanic. I asked ****'s IF they did any diagnostic before replacing the chain. I was told NO by ****'s. I also asked IF a valve adjustment was done after the timing chain. (Standard practice!) I was again told NO. ****'s did do a valve adjustment only AFTER I asked them to! Why would they NOT do diagnosis on the engine and simply fix only the timing chain? I'm told by my other mechanic that IF simple diagnostics were done, I could have avoided this. I am astounded that ****'s claims they could not see any damage on the scope when the other mechanic did?! I do not feel ****'s is being honest with me. I want a refund of ALL the labor money. I did contact ****'s and got the run around. I asked them to do the right thing. My car is currently at the other mechanic getting a NEW ENGINE. I grew up in a house with a father who was a trained mechanic for 80 years. The Above is NOT how a professional shop operates. I feel that **** and ******'s are being dishonest with me.
