|Mar. 15, 2015|| On Saturday, March 7, 2015, my wife (*****) and I decided to obtain pricing and test drive different 2014/2015 makes and models of trucks to determine what we liked. My wife and I had planned on paying cash for whatever vehicle we decided to purchase. We would not be purchasing the vehicle that day, but this would give us an idea what we needed for our last truck purchase. The first dealership we went to was the Dodge dealer in Coon Rapids, exceptional service. NorthCountry Ford (Luther), was down the road, so we stopped there to look at their trucks. We are a Ford family, and have owned Fords most of our lives. My wife and I had just started walking up to the building when we were stopped by a salesman (***** *.). He asked if we could use any help, my wife said "we are here to look at trucks". Then described what we were looking for, and this would be our last truck we would purchase. After we found a truck we liked, the salesman recommended taking it for a test drive. When we returned from the test drive, I asked the salesman to give us some pricing to know what we would be paying. He wanted the keys to our truck (2002 Ford truck) to take a test drive, to determine the trade-in value. My wife and I waited in the dealership until he returned. When he returned, the salesman and my wife went to his desk, waiting for me. The salesman told my wife, your husband must be anxious to be rid of the that piece of junk. She was furious at him for saying that, but said nothing. When I returned, the salesman told me we had a piece of junk, the engine did not sound good, and was worthless. He would only give us $750.00, but we would get the $1500.00 trade-in allowance besides. The salesperson was very argumentative when I expressed my displeasure on the trade-in value and how he described our truck. The humiliation from the salesman was unaceptable. I told him about the purchase of our current the truck from Elk River Ford with 20,000 miles. We had an exhaust manifold stud problem, a Ford problem. The dealership would not fix the problem, even though the truck was under warranty. A Ford dealership we will never go back to. He was lost for words, acting dumb-founded. The salesman then walked away for about 15 minutes. While he was gone, I asked my wife why she did not say anything. She told me about the conversation before I returned, and how upset/furious with this person, not daring to say anything. We should have left then, but wanted pricing, since we like the truck. What the salesman was hearing was an exhaust leak due to the two broken studs. I told him they would never get our truck for $750.00, we would sell it privately, or keep it. When ***** came back, we talked about the incentives. We told him another Ford dealership offered $2500.00 incentives, plus the $1500.00 for trade-in allowance. The salesman said our cost on the new 2014 vehicle would be $34,000.00 which was the price on the sticker, more the 2015 Dodge trucks. When my wife and I reaffirmed again we would be paying cash when ready to purchase, he told my wife and I we would be losing the $1000.00 by not financing through Ford. He was very argumentative and hostile through the pricing process. My wife reminded the salesman we were out looking at trucks, and did not plan to buy a truck that day. I told him my wife and I would need time to discuss our options before purchasing. The salesman was very rude, telling us we were done, slamming the folder closed with the pricing. He then stood up and told us there was no more to discuss, as if to close communication. He looked at us very furious, which made us nervous. We were totally shocked by his composure and attitude. My wife and I stood to leave. He followed toward the front entrance, pretty much pushing us out the door. He was right on our backs as we were walking out the door.
My wife and I have never experienced such horrible treatment. If this is how you conduct business, we will never step foot in a Luther dealership again, nor will we recommend your dealerships (Luther) to anyone!!!!! We plan to let the Ford Motor Co know about the conduct/unprofessionalism of your salesman. My wife and I are also worried about retaliation from the salesman once this is released, as he had our address when we left the dealership. From what I learned after this encounter, from a General Manager of a dealership, 95% of people come in for pricing and to test drive before buying. If the customer likes the vehicle and satisfied with the dealership , they will come back. The second thing, the salesman would have been fired.
This came right off your web-site. This is truly not true...
