Complaint
The business installed turf & irrigation system. We have had drainage issues since day 1 and approximately 40% of the turf is dying out.
We have been dealing with this company for over 3 years to address both drainage issues & also dying turf that was placed by the business.
The turf placed was ********* ****** & that was at the recommendation of the buiness.

The business owner has refused to return my phone calls starting July 15, 2014.

Desired Settlement
We are interested in any positive outcome and I have offered to pay their cost only to include no profit margin or mark-up to try to remedy this situation. I am willing to invest more to resolve this but don't feel that they should profit from the poor results.

Business Response
We installed an irrigation system and also removed existing grass in the backyard. We did not price re-grading his backyard but I recall it had positive drainage. We replaced the grass with Palisade Zoysia sod in the summer of 2011. Palisade Zoysia is used in areas that receive less than 6-8 hours of sunlight. In 2012 our staff and the certified sod grower met onsite with the homeowner. The grower immediately diagnosed, and told the homeowner, that he was over watering the sod and this was the reason it was dying. He also explained how the yard was to be fertilized. About this time the homeowner began to use AgriScapes for fertilizer and chemical applications.
Over the years we have done irrigation shutdowns, start-ups and backflow test reports for the homeowner. Earlier this year the homeowner started calling the office demanding to talk to an owner because he wants his grass replaced. AgriScapes does not warranty any sod, but that may not have been made clear to him. Even if a warranty had been offered it would have expired one year from the contract date and expired in June 2012. Earlier this year the decision was made to discontinue any services provided to this client.

Consumer Response
We initially inquired about the need for grading and were advised by AgriScapes that it wasn't necessary
We requested Meyers Zoysia turf but were advised that it was unavailable and that the Palisades Zoysia is superior in shaded areas (the area where the turf is dying out)
AgriScapes had full control over and advised which trees were to be thinned out to allow additional sun light to the shade affected area
The gentleman from the turf farm (supplier) did visit during 2013 after continued concerns over the loss of turf. He indicated there was both over watering of the turf and a PH issue.
- the watering cycles were advised and set by AgriScapes at the time of installation & they (AgriScapes) also appeared to be unaware that over watering was an issue
- AgriScapes did apply some chemicals to attempt to address the PH issue
We used AgriScapes from day one for the fertilization (I can produce cancelled checks to prove the service was performed) - our primary reason was to ensure proper maintenance
We were speaking with our assigned representative until we left for vacation in the summer and expected them to meet with us again to explore additional work to be performed
- we expected to pay a reasonable cost to address the issues
- after our return from vacation we were advised after three or four calls that our assigned representative no longer worked at AgriScapes
- I asked to speak with the owner of the business by name because he was the one that initially made the recommendations & representations about the turf
If a decision was made earlier this year to discontinue service then it was not communicated during the several phone calls placed over a two month period when return calls were promised. I never demanded anything from anyone - I did call them over a two month period hoping to get a resolution. We learned of the decision when we called for the repair of a leaking pipe in the system. Their receptionist actually provided a referral to another business and indicated it was because t AgriScapes was shorthanded and could not make the repair timely.
Just to summarize - we initially were willing to pay a reasonable cost to correct the issues that occurred over a three year period of dealing with this business. There is no potential for a positive outcome given their actions and response to our ongoing concerns. I would highly recommend that any buyer beware of this business.
