Carpet and Rug Cleaners
To find a reputable carpet-cleaning company, the BBB suggests the following:
Check the BBB report on the company.
Ask your family, friends or co-workers who they use to clean their carpets and whether they were satisfied with the service.
Do not assume that the lowest price is the best price. While no one wants to be overcharged, extremely low prices should be viewed with suspicion. Companies that advertise unbelievably low prices, through coupons or local newspaper advertisements, may be practicing what is called "bait" advertising. Once the workers arrive at your home or place of business, they may quickly suggest a more expensive cleaning treatment or claim that your coupon is not valid for your situation.
Ask exactly what is included in the price and be sure to get the price and the list of services in writing before the crew begins any work.
Determine what services are considered basic, and what services the company considers "extras." What type of cleaning agent does the company use and exactly how does it work? Will the cleaning company move furniture and return it to its original location? If so, is there an extra charge for this service? What about pre-treating spots and heavily soiled areas? Are there extra charges for stairs or high traffic areas?
Inquire about the company's employees who will be coming into your home or place of business. Does the company use its own employees or do they sub-contract the job to other companies? Are the workers bonded and insured? Who is responsible if the crew damages the carpet or other items in your home or business?
Is your satisfaction guaranteed? Where is that stated in writing?
