British Columbia’s leader in promoting ethical business practices is seeking nominations for the 2009 Torch Awards. The annual awards program honors several businesses or individuals Province-wide (excluding Vancouver Island) that have demonstrated high ethical standards and exemplify excellence in business practices.
There is no cost to submit nominations. All for-profit businesses are eligible for nomination or self-nomination. Businesses of all sizes are encouraged to apply. Membership in the BBB is not a requirement to win.
Nomination guidelines and forms can be found at www.mbc.bbb.org/torch or by calling (604) 488-8701. Winners will be recognized at the 2009 BBB Torch Awards luncheon on October 15 held at the Four Season Hotel Vancouver.
Torch Award winners recognized last year were Poulin’s Pest Control. The company was selected based on the strength of its submissions that demonstrated excellence in ethical practices, service excellence, reputation, honest advertising, peer recognition, management practices and employee training in ethical behavior.
The Green Award, in partnership with BC Ethics in Action Society, went to Rocky Mountain Flatbread Co. for its innovative programs and initiatives which promoted forward-thinking, sustainable business practice.
Better Business Bureau will host one Torch Award Application Workshop on July 23. The workshop will assist in the application process. Registration is recommended, but not required. To join, visit the BBB Meet Up group www.meetup.com/Better-Business-Bureau-BC
