I had a warrantied heat exchange unit, and a new water heater installed ******** in early December. ****, one of the owners, had attended the house prior to the installation by his brother (*****) and provided an estimate of $*** to install the heat exchange unit,...saying it would require two people to do the exchange unit plus the water heater. No estimate was provided as to the cost of the water heater.
I also had a minor problem with a fireplace they agreed to address, if possible.
***** attended the house, did all the work himself, and issued a bill for $*************************** on Dec. 11, 2013. The invoice supplied no detail as to parts cost, labor, or any other item(s). It simply stated "Supply and install,....".
While I paid the invoice rather than get into a confrontation, I found the invoice devoid of the kind of information one might expect from a company that states it will supply "detailed" data as to the cost components of a job.
Consequently, I contacted the company via phone and via email (to the attention of ****) requesting an explanation of the invoice.
**** did return my first call, stating he had checked with the office and understood an error had occurred with the billing,...and he said it was in the ********** range and they would mail me a cheque.

Since then and despite several calls, Flame has ignored addressing the issue.
******************************************************************************************** there is a significant discrepancy as to how a bill of ****** is concocted.

Desired Settlement
I wish to have a detailed invoice stating how they arrived at the cost charged; and if they have made a "mistake" a refund that makes sense. I have informed ************************************************************************************************

I just received Flame's response (******************* understand completely their position. Unfortunately, I neither agree nor accept how they have decided to deal with my complaint *************************************************************************************

************ makes a point of stating that their ********* pricing has been in effect "....for a significant period of time". That statement appears to run in contrast to what he states in his letter of February 26, 2013 when he says "This pricing has been in effect, more or less, since 2012". *****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
***************************************************************************************************************************************** When we discussed the potential cost of the heat exchanger work I was not given any written quote and he discussed the work in terms of time it might take, leading me to conclude the work would take much longer than was actually the case (less than 2 hours). Furthermore, he never did supply me with an actual quote on the water tank installation.



I will cash the cheque enclosed in Mr. *******'s February 26 letter *************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
