Complaint
Had new high efficiency furnace installed Aug. 2013.

Have issues with clothes washer output backup up (noticed because I just happened to look while the washer was running) into condensate line to furnace and blowing all over wooden floor and possibly into ducting below furnace.

Also, intermittent sewer gas smells are present.

On contact with installation company, we were told to call a plumber.

There were NO issues prior to this.

Desired Settlement
Repair their error(s) or refund the money so we can get someone else to repair/re-do the job.

Business Response
We were initially advised of the problem after receiving a telephone call from the customer. We were informed that the problem was being caused by the washing machine output backing up (as stated by the customer in the complaint letter). We advised the customer that the volume of condensate created by a furnace is insufficient to cause an overflow/backup issue, nor is it likely to create a sewer gas odor. The customer was asked to contact a plumber as the root cause of the problem appeared to be directly related to the piping or the washing machine itself, and as we weren't able to observe the operation of the washing machine during the time of installation, we could not determine the validity of this problem prior to our attendance.

Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The condensate from thee furnace IS NOT the issue.
Washer soapy water and rinse running out of the condensate line at the furnace IS the issue.
Nobody asked to cycle the washer which is about 5 feet away from the furnace.
NOTE: The condensate line IS OPEN to the waste system.

Final Business Response
as per the instructions from the safety inspector, we have install a 1.5" p-trap and 1 foot of abs piping...this should now resolve the issue

Final Consumer Response
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
The p-trap/standpipe solution DID NOT work. Blows washer waste all over crawl space floor.
This is a PRESSURIZED line. No stand pipe solution will work. *******************************************
Removed their fix so we could use washing machine.
Will deal with condensate ourselves.
