Bad Weather Didn’t Hold Back BBB, Cintas

October 25, 2013

The cold weather, wind, and rain did not dampen the efforts of the Better Business Bureau and Cintas and their fight against identity theft for local consumers!

Last Saturday, BBB and Cintas held a free shred event to recognize Protect Your Identity Week (PYIW), which is October 19 – 26, 2013!

Around 250 people stopped by the event, in the rain, to drop off personal documents that needed to be shredded. The event was held at the Kroger on Shelbyville Road in Middletown. Cintas shredded more than 14,000 pounds of documents.

Consumers were encouraged to drop off any documents that contained bank account information, account numbers, social security numbers, or other personal information. They were allowed to drop off up to 3 large boxes or bags of documents to be shredded -- for FREE. Workers removed the items from vehicles, so consumers did not even have to get out of their cars – and get WET!

The BBB/Cintas free shred day has become an annual event. Contact the BBB for the next shredding event date.
