BBB Shred Event - A Success!

October 22, 2012

The Better Business Bureau and Cintas teamed up this weekend to help local consumers fight identity theft! BBB and Cintas held a free shred event to recognize Protect Your Identity Week (PYIW), which is October 20 – 27, 2012!

More than 600 people stopped by the event, which was held at the Kroger on Shelbyville Road in Middletown, and Cintas shredded more than 25,000 pounds of documents. Cintas Corporation is a national shredding partner for PYIW. Consumers were encouraged to drop off any documents that contained bank account information, account numbers, social security numbers, or other personal information. They were allowed to drop off up to 3 large boxes or bags of documents to be shredded -- for free. Workers removed the items from vehicles, so consumers did not even have to get out of their cars!

The BBB/Cintas free shred day is an annual event that usually takes place every October.
