While the Vincent Abell Contracting team completed adequate repairs to the box gutters on our historic condo building, the use of a large articulating boom (mobile platform) on the grounds of a residential property especially when the area was saturated from heavy rains, caused multiple areas of damage to our brick walkway, a large section of which collapsed from the weight of the boom, and multiple sections of our lawn. Our condo association was charged for his team to make walkway repairs and to place grass seed and straw on the damaged areas of the lawn rather than the contractor covering the damage. In addition, I discovered errors in calculating the first bill when the general contractor fee was applied to the entire billing amount rather than to the entire bill less subcontractor fees (carpentry). The owner was indifferent and did not seem to care about the damage. We had to ask him to walk around the property to inspect repairs and provide a plan after multiple areas of damage had occurred. His communication style is condescending, particularly to property owners that are women. I would not recommend this contractor to others. We also had to wait nearly 5 months before work began after providing a $5,000 deposit.

Our work involved T&M repairs to a multi story condo building, which required either scaffolding around the building (which would have cost 3x as much) or the use of a mobile man lift. The Condo association wanted things done as efficiently as possible, and agreed the man lift made the most sense. During the course of work there was a small section of sidewalk (about 6ft x 4ft area) that collapsed from the weight of the equipment. The sidewalk failure was due to improper drainage (many years of water running under the sidewalk washing away the foundation). The other members of the condo association understood this was a hidden condition, so we repaired the damaged sidewalk (at cost). The other members of the condo also understood that a multi week project over grass (with off and on rain) would likely cause some turf damage, which was easily repaired with seed and straw.
