I paid Associates in Accounting $360 to complete my deceased mother's estate taxes. In turn, Associates in Accounting agreed to do the estate taxes by the deadline (August 15th). Over the past 7-8 months, I have provided them with all information they needed and requested. I have uploaded countless files, forms and documents to their secure portal. Any time they have asked for information, I have given it to them within 24-48 hours. As August 15th approached, I had not heard from them for several weeks, so I sent two different emails asking for an update on the taxes. Both times I was assured that things were fine, that they didn't see any problems meeting the deadline. I had requested that we talk on the phone but they never called me and ignored my request. Fast forward to today (August 15th) which is the deadline to file the taxes. I received an email asking for some basic information that I had answered months ago. I had also uploaded a document months ago (a last Will) that provided this information. I responded an answered their questions that I had answered before, but I also requested to talk to someone on the phone to clear up any misunderstandings. No one ever called me. So I called them. It has always been difficult getting a hold of someone. One time I even called and they had disconnected their number because they didn't want any calls. So part of my complaint is how difficult it is to talk to anyone at the company. Often times they have purposely made it near impossible to get a hold of anyone. In any case, I called and actually talked with someone, but that person could not help me. Instead they told me they could not meet the deadline and that they would be filing an extension. No explanation was given. No apologies were made. No date was given on when they would have things done. So I still don't have the taxes done! And I don't know when they will be done! Again, they provide no explanations, no apologies, nothing. It's infuriating!
