Additional NotesComplaint: I contacted Steven's Remodeling and Repairs to get an estimate because the website looked so nice. I needed my bathroom remodeled because of a faulty work, and my bathroom is unusable. On the website it says we" over and over again but really its only one person, Steven. Time again I made plans with him and he didn't follow through with them. I went over a plan and he would forget what we talked about and get confused. We would make plans for him to do something and he would never follow through with the whole plan, very inconsistant. I am a busy single mother of two young kids and I am a student at ********** ** ********** and have to be on time, I would explain explain this to him and he did not respect my time and would show up late to our scheduled appointment times. His continued lack of consistency and failure to properly communicate with me made it impossible to get the job done. He came over to start the job and only did a very small portion of what he said he would do, then blamed me for his incompetence. On 10-18-11 he tore out my shower stall and left without finishing the scheduled work for the day. He left me with half of a torn up bathroom and didn't touch the sink area where he had promised to demo as well. When i asked him about this he got mad and lied, claiming that he couldn't do both jobs at the same time, which again was not what he had said before and was not what we had agreed on. At this point its impossible to work with him successfully. Now I am stuck with a half torn up bathroom in which I cant use and a sink top at ****** that i cant pick up because i dont have a truck. This is a sink top that he was "going to ' pick up but refused to. I have wasted time and money on this job because i put my trust in him to do a job that he refuses to do. His website clams "Over 30 years as a master woodworker and over 10 years in the custom remodeling business and as a handyman specialist, I fully understand that it is all about communication attention to details excellent craftsmanship outstanding customer service delivered on time within budget." I find this false advertising because this is the exact oposite of what I have encountered. He refused to hear my pleas and concerns and had no "outstanding customer service". I feel that his website is misleading and that he disregarded me as a client. I am suffering distress, unable to work, and worried as to how im going to pick up my products and get this job done. Desired Settlement: I feel that Steven's Remodeling and Repair does not deserve the A+ rating through the high respected Better Business Bureau and hope that my complant is heard and acknowledged. I desire this "company" to be downgraded. Business Response: Concerning the job for ******* *******: From the beginning I knew it was going to be a difficult job being that it was her first time of having a remodel job done.
Numerous times I had offered to meet with her on my own time and at no charge to help make decisions on types, kind and colors of products to use and she declined and made them herself.
At the start of the job she had said that the countertop she ordered was in and ready to install. The information she provided was false. The countertop was not in and it was a double bowl sink/countertop and one bowl was backordered.
As a business owner I treat the customer with the upmost respect and try not to disrupt family routinees in the home. I was trying to coordinate a time to meet with her in the morning after she was ready to leave and a few minutes of her time before she left. This was one the first day and did not know her schedule. The time given to me was the time she was leaving and I will admit that I was a few minutes late but was under the impression we had time before she was to leave.
The job at hand was to remove a faulty shower enclosure and replace a countertop. I removed the shower enclosure and framed for a tub to be installed by the plumber (****** ******* ********) the following day. The countertop I did not tear out cause the countertop was in (*****) but one of the two bowls had not arrived. I made the choice of not removing the existing countertop till the new one was to be install to avoid her being without a sink in her bathroom. It was a courtesy judgement call.
With the tub being installed the following day, *******, at this point still has not picked out the tile she was going to be used around the tub. Again I had offered to help in this decision at no charge and on my own time, and again it was in conflict with her schedule. In her frustration, she had called me a ,"Redneck". I do not tolerate name calling and find it very disrespectful. This remark comes from a student of * ** * taking Psychology. Enclosed is an attachment of her apology which I did not find to be sincere considering she did the name calling verbally and her apology was an one line email.
As far as my company is concerned and the people that make it up is more than just me. I hire contractors and laborers as I deem necessary on a job to job basis's. At the time of enrollment with the BBB, I, had a receptionist, ***** ****.
You will find her as a contact for my company. *******'s job did not require for than one person to demo and prep for tub since all other materials were either backordered or not purchased. I would like to state that concerning the tub, I, was the one who expedited that purchase and installation.
I do regret that the job went bad but I have current and previous customers that will discredit her statement as me being hard to work with and communicate with. My two strongest point that I attribute to my successful business and emphasize to my customers are Communication and Honesty.
Sincerely,
****** ********
