On August 15, 2017 I was a ********* for my son and his wife. The lease was for one year. After that it went to month-to-month. On March 2, 2021 a 3rd party was added to the lease through an addendum by the landlord, even though the lease says the 1 bedroom was only for 2 people. I was NOT informed as the ********* which, after I confronted Capital Realty Advisors, they said they did not have to inform me or get my approval to continue as *********. My son(and wife) left ********** leaving the 3rd party alone. By the end of 2021 the 3rd party did not pay the rent. I was NOT contacted again but in the summer of 2022 I received a call from a collection agency that I owed the money and that my credit was affected (120 point drop). I paid the rent to correct my score only to find out that my son(and wife) had the collection reported against their score, too, but the collection agency had no record of the 3rd party. I have asked for a copy of the addendum but have never received it but they did send me the lease. My son had a copy of the vacate notice given and Capital Realty Advisors had all 3 renters on the notice. I don't understand how I am responsible for a 3rd person who I did not co-sign for and never knew about and why he was not part of the collection since Capital Realty Advisors acknowledges that he signed the addendum and was one of the renters. I would like to be reimbursed for my $1,734.15. Put the 3rd party into collections. I signed for my son, not anyone who the landlord wanted to add to the lease. My name as ********* is ******************************* (although Capital spelled ********* with a "Z" in all cases. Lease and vacate notice are available, if needed.
