    I attended Norwalk Village Dental Center on November 4, 2023 because I had wisdom tooth discomfort. Even though I only wanted to get a checkup on the wisdom tooth, they said I needed a cleaning and some cavities filled and that it would all be covered by my insurance. Because they told me the insurance would cover my services I agreed to them. I would not have otherwise.After this we discussed treatment options for the wisdom tooth removal. The final amount we agreed upon was to be around $1200 for the extraction with bone graft and a panoramic x-ray. The panoramic x-ray itself would be $175 out of the $1200 and non-refundable. I paid them $650 as a deposit for the wisdom tooth removal.I ultimately decided to have the extraction done with another surgeon where I felt more comfortable and told the office I wanted to cancel. Based on our agreement, there would be a 10% cancellation fee. By my calculation, I should only have to pay them $175 for the x-ray and then 10% of the refundable amount ($1,200-$175=$1,025) which should be about $100 for a total of about $275. For about 3 weeks now, I have been trying to get a refund from the dentists office. However, they are refusing to refund any portion of the deposit because my insurance has not paid them for the other services (cleaning and fillings). This occurred during a follow-up appointment with them on 11/22 where they told me everything would be sorted out by then. I find it dishonest and misleading for them to have me go into the office on that day just to tell me they can't do anything because the insurance had not paid them.My desired resolution is for them to refund me the deposit for the extraction about $375 since they told me all other services would be covered by the insurance.I also find it misleading that they made me pay for the panoramic x-ray. They led me to believe that my insurance would not cover it. However, the surgeon I saw after them was able to successfully charge it to my insurance.
