Dont Fall for it - Envelope Stuffing Work-at-Home Scam

November 09, 2010

If you are still among the folks that are unemployed, or are looking for a way to make some extra money for the holidays, beware! The latest work-at-home scam could tempt you right out of your money.

Your Better Business Bureau has warned you in the past of some newer online Internet-based work at home schemes out there that seemed like a way to get rich quick. However, some of the old school work-at-home scams are still running out there, separating people from their money instead of actually earning them any.

One we saw advertised recently says "help needed now – work from home processing mail." It says you can start immediately. It guarantees to pay 5 dollars per envelope.

Sounds great – earning five dollars for every envelope stuffed! We thought we had better check with the BBB in Seattle, where the company is located.

The company, Pacific Publications, has an F rating due to a number of complaints from people saying they sent $42 to the company and either got nothing or what they got was misleading. That BBB shopped the company and instead of a job stuffing envelopes, all they got was a booklet about other work at home offers.

The old adage is true…if it SOUNDS too good to be true, it usually is. The old stuffing envelopes scam has been around for decades…but people must still be falling for it or the con artists wouldn't keep running them. That's why we're warning YOU so YOU don't fall for it!
