Complaint: Sullivan and Morris, my tax accountants, will not send me my electronic tax returns that were bought and paid for.
In the past, and for many years, Sullivan and Morris filed my personal, my LLC and my father's (50/50 partner in the LLC) tax returns.

I have been in Asia for many years and want to clear up any potential tax filings I may need to do. I have asked for a quote from Sullivan and Morris, but to no avail.

My father stopped by their office and they said they would reply - but they have not.

I finally just asked that they send me my digital returns already filed and send to my father all his digital tax returns so I can give them to another accountant to work from. No Reply.

This process has been carried out over 6-8 months with no reply to me but a verbal assurance that they would to my father.

Initial Business Response
I sincerely regret that our former client has filed a complaint against our firm with your organization.
The most recent individual income tax return our firm prepared for Mr. ****** was for the year 2001. The most recent individual return we prepared for his father was for the year ended 2007. The most recent partnership return we prepared for the business owned by Mr. ****** and his father was for the year ended 2007. At the time each of these returns were completed by our firm we returned supporting records and documents and provided a copy of the return to Mr. ****** and his father. This client copy of each return is required to be provided by law, a law with which we diligently comply.
There is no legal or ethical requirement for us to provide a former client with an electronic copy of any income tax return we have prepared.
It is unfortunate for Mr. ****** that he does not have his client copy of previously prepared returns, however, we are not responsible for his lack of record keeping and file retention.

Complaint Resolution: BBB determined that while the company addressed the complaint issues, the complainant was dissatisfied and the matter was outside BBB Rules of Arbitration.
