Back in late February of this year, I called Mr. Rooter to unplug my back flow valve blocking sewage to city drains. He came out very quickly. He scoped out the drain and cleaned out the drain. He determined that the pipes had disconnected and it was on my property raised parts but wouldn't affect the flow. He said that we needed to have the pipe replaced - quoting me $4,200 plus HST. If we took on the job, they would discount us the cleaning fee of $350 plus HST. My wife said to call the city to see if they would pay for this work. I called 311 and someone from the city came out in 2 hours. He scoped the drain to the best as it wasn't the most efficient scoper. He said that he would try to pass the cost onto the city. That night the city sent out someone to determine where the gas lines were and he also scoped the drain line. He had a very thorough machine. He couldn't see any broken pipes. I looked at it as well and just saw raised parts but wouldn't affect the flow. The next day, 2 men from the city came out to inspect the situation. They also scoped it out and they as well did not see any broken pipes. I am so glad that I had a second opinion that was honest as they gain nothing from doing this work. I called Mr Rooter yesterday and told them of my disappointment and she said that the technician would call me back today. I haven't heard from yet and don't expect him to call back.
