Complaint I have several issues regarding this bank. 1. They withheld Information. 2. They let unauthorized transactions take place. 3. Much More! Alright to start this complaint. First of all I'd like to just say I've had problems with this bank since the first month I opened an account. I moved back to Ames IA and needed A bank to cash my check and other checks. Opening the account they quickly agreed and told me everything I needed to hear to choose their bank. Well everything is fine for awhile up until I go in with a payroll check and would not give me cash back from it. They would only deposit the check. Which did not work for me. So after the first few weeks I quit using the bank I just stared a direct deposit into our main bank. If our main bank had a branch or at least an atm in town that would be fine but they don't. So now I am stuck with an account that charges me 1 dollar a month to have. So months go by with no transactions or anything. Last week I decide I will use this bank to make some payment one being my ****** Card with ******** bank. I go in and deposit 200$ cash on 9-5-14. 9-6-14 I pay ******'s ******** bank 90.00. I decide to withdrawal 100$ from an atm on 9-8-14. That same day I start getting charged from an online company starting with 1 dollar then 40 dollars then 20 dollars. SO now my account goes overdraft. This bank then turns around and contacts ****** and takes my 90.00 dollar payment back. They returned my online check that I submitted on 9-6-14. On X-XX-XX I get home from work and get my mail. There is a letter saying my account had overdrawn. I immediately call and talk to a lady. SHe informed me she had seen where they had been charging my card but there was never money in my account for it to go through. I tell her I need them to stop payment to them and that it was fraud. I go through and somehow end up on the line with a guy from my local branch. After an hour with him he says he will give me back the fees they charged me but for the unauthorized transactions I needed to submit a dispute and let their fraud department make a decision. I see several issues here. 1. The first being the fact that my card had been charged before this date and they failed to notify me of this. On my online banking account I cant see this. But they can obviousely see this because the lady said she could see it. 2. The authorized online check I wrote to ****** on the 6th was returned. Therefore that now looks bad to********* bank. And I have think this will have an adverse effect on my and my wifes credit. 3. I dont see how they can take back a payment I made on the 6th to pay some fraud charges that are obviousely fraud on the 8th. I checked on the 7th and the money was being held for ******. If the money is held how can they unhold to pay something that is obvoulely a scam? They show up online as: POS PURCHASE MERCHANT PURCHASE TERMINAL XXXXXX SegpayEU com GPASS ISTXX XXX XXX X XX thats the 39.99 charge, POS PURCHASE MERCHANT PURCHASE TERMINAL XXXXXX DATASHELP COM (XXX)XXXX XX for 19.99. The phone number for em has x's in it! It is just so mind boggling as to how this could happen. TO top all matters off my two sons and I are sick with a stomach bug. I should not have to go through this period, but trying to deal with this when I should be bedridden. Yesterday X-XX-XX I went into the branch and signed fraud papers or dispute papers I guess. I must say this bank has been pretty unwilling to correct this issue. This has been a time sensitive issue because of the latter effect of returning a payment to a bill that was due on a certain date. SO now not only is my payment late it is also noted as returned! I have all documents and information for proof of all my allegations with the exception of what the woman on the phone said about them trying to charge my card before. I didn't think of recording my call but i am sure they have that record.
Desired Settlement First and foremost I want this bank to contact********s ******** bank and correct this. I want at least my 90$ payment paid and I want the bank to take responsibility for it. I want them to explain the circumstances and get my account back up to date with no bad effects on our name. Second I want some kind of compensation for my time pain and agony. Did I mention stress. I want them to pursue the fraudulent perpetrators and to what they can to the fullest extent of the law. I want them to take a look at the way they handle business and ensure this will never happen to any poor families like mine again. THe bank was sure to make sure they got their little fee at first so would it be unapprioperate to ask for a 39.99 courtesy fee for each unauthorized transaction they let go through. WHat about a 19.99 fee for each time my card was charged before I had money in the account and they denied but failed to notify me. And how about a 99.99 fee to me for defamation of character to Amazons suncrony bank for returning a valid online payment with my bank account # and routing # for multiple bogus looking charges. I have all documents and information for proof of all my allegations with the exception of what the woman on the phone said about them trying to charge my card before. I didn't think of recording my call but i am sure they have that record.
Business Response After talking with the customer, he thanked Midwest Heritage for waiving all account fees and crediting his bank account the amount of the unathorized transactions. He mentioned that he has contacted Amazon and they have rssolved and refunded any fees charged to him. He was satisfied with our service and informed Midwest Heritage that he was going to mark the case as closed.
