sorry company takes your money and dont hold up to agreement; lost over 6000 in annuity because they did not send papers to be filled out and sent back .got papers two weeks after date so they charge me a surrender fee that was their fault,because papers was return not on time.2,400 dollars fee then they charge a market drop fee 0f 4000 dolllars when i wanted my money so out of 6years i made4 dollars.in 6years of them having my money.would tell they everyone they are crooks stealing money from old people like me; they lie and make it you fault so they take your moneyReview from Erica M

Communication is awful. I’ve called and left messages with messages with my adjuster. She never returns call. Left message with her supervisor also a no call back. Is this even a real business?!? At this point I feel the entire company is a money hungry scam. Wish I could leave no stars.Review from Robert S

Blood-sucking *******! Doubled our HO policy after 3 years with no claims. What's even better is in two months they will pay out the "cash-back" reward for no claims for 3 years. It's more like charging me double the reward so they can reward themselves.Review from Reece H

First time homebuyer in 2016. Previous homeowner never had the roof replaced. Roof damaged by wind in 2023. Deductible $3,000. Never filed a claim before. Insurance will not cover it due to age (depreciation). The "actual cash value" according to them is less than my deductible. Estimated cost for a new roof $10,000. Let me start by saying, I'm a customer of American National, I've been paying auto and home premiums for insurance for years. 10/25/23 I was struck by another vehicle, not my fault. I followed thru, made an online police report, contacted insurance the second they opened etc. I was told I could take the vehicle to any shop I wanted to, and that I had 1200 in rental coverage, 40/day. I located a shop, shop couldn't get me in until 11/7. 10/26 AN set me up with a rental car from *********** ********** refused to budge on anything below $40 per day... (we'll come back to this). I got a rental. 11/7 had my vehicle towed to the shop. 11/9 my adjuster calls me and says my vehicle isn't being worked on and I need to return the rental. Huh? I asked how/why the adjuster thought that as I had just talked to the shop and they were working on the quote. The adjuster said ********** called the shop and was told it wasn't being worked on. How, I never told ********** where my vehicle would be repaired, to my surprise my adjuster said they/********** had access to my claim file. I have never given AN my express written consent to share any of my information. Not to mention that was a flat out lie, the vehicle was being worked on. 11/13 the shop submitted the supplemental, I called the shop 11/22 and asked for an update, said they hadn't heard back from insurance on the supplemental. I emailed my adjuster and was told the supplemental was approved 11/20. So with my rental car expiring by the day, AN sits on the supplemental claim for 7 days. Needless to say, my rental coverage expired and I had to rent another vehicle on my own. About 2 minutes online I found a rental for $9 per day. 11/22 when the adjuster emailed they had sat on the supplemental for a week, I responded asking for the corporate office address or address AN received legal corespondence... SILENCE, no response. Again, I'm the paying customer. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, DRIVE WITHOUT INSURANCE.Review from Dominique H

The service with this company is by far the worst of all-time, I called about a owed premium and was told to pay before Nov.11 when I called in they informed m I was terminated. What a nightmare the only insurance I have for my son and now told it's gone. This company is awful after putting so much money into monthly fees it's gone that quickly. Absolutely worst experience ever. Evidently we have been driving with no insurance for over two months because American National didn't bother to convert our quote into an actual insurance policy. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.Review from Francisca R

This company I got in June been paying my payment gets drafted every month and in October they sent out a check for overpayment so when I called I found out they had terminated my policy saying in sept I didn’t pay I sent bank statements so they can see where they collected money and it was payed at that they even collected in October the month after ? Don’t make sense sent me. Check for overpayment but saying my policy ended for non payment So as of now I’m without a policy while their still telling me to be patient while they try n figure out what went wrong but for some reason they can’t see on their system but have my bank statements where they took out payment so where did my money go ????? It’s life insurance something like that should get fixed that same day not a month my family used them for years so I can’t believe this is happening to meReview from Tammy K

Well, it seems like American Nationals Annuity accounts are not much better. My mother opened an account years ago and now she has advance Dementia so she's going into a Memory Care Facility. I have full POA over my mothers affairs and American National has given me all of her account information the last 7 years. Now that we need to close this account to help pay for her care they are giving me the run around... I've submitted their "Service Request Form" 3 times and they finally have that but now they are saying the POA they've had on file for 7 years is not good enough!! I know they are not wanting to close the account and are coming up with every excuse they can think of.Review from Tiana T

This is the worst company ever!!! Ive been going through hell with this company since June 2023 when i first filed a life insurance claim. Customer service is poor, nobody ever has the same information, and you can never speak with an actual manager or someone who is assigned to your claim. The ongoing stall tactics they use to keep from paying you is ridiculous and disrespectful. It's now going into mid October and I have not been paid what is due to me, but yet they're still billing/taking money out of my account for my deceased grandson of whom was the insured person. You never know what mental state someone is in and the stress and anxiety that this company has caused is beyond horrible. I HIGHLY recommend you find other insurance coverage outside of American National. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
