Hawaii's BBB Announces 2014 Torch Award Recipients

HONOLULU (April 30, 2014) – Hawaii’s Better Business Bureau® (BBB) today announced the recipients of the 2014 BBB Torch Awards before a crowd of over 450 business, civic and nonprofit leaders. Keynote speaker Norbert Bajurin, Commodore of the Golden Gate Yacht Club addressed the audience and shared his incredible journey of how he came to partner with Billionaire Larry Ellison, and win the America's Cup Trophy

These Awards honor those that are committed to marketplace trust, performance and integrity,” said Gregory D. Dunn, President and CEO of Hawaii’s BBB. “All of our finalist and recipients have demonstrated that upholding BBB’s business standards is a hallmark of successful companies and organizations.”

A BBB Torch Award is achieved after completing an arduous entry, followed by an independent judging process that identify businesses that best demonstrate marketplace excellence. 

The 2014 recipients are::

  • Public Charity – BizGym Foundation
  • Small Business – TH!NK LLC
  • Medium Business – Aloha Data Services & Staffing Solutions of Hawaii
  • Large Business – Kamaka Hawaii Inc.

John Dean, President and CEO of Central Pacific Bank received the BBB Keauhou award.  The award celebrates those that have made significant contributions towards innovation and entrepreneurship through leadership, new products or new services in Hawaii.  

Established in 1945, Hawaii’s Better Business Bureau® (BBB) is the local authority on trust in the marketplace. Only businesses and charities that meet and adhere to BBB standards can receive BBB accreditation.
