Complaint: Company was hired to repair leak in roof. Company supervisor assessed the work and the condition of the tiles on the roof. His assessment was that the problem was due to damaged and cracked tiles which were causing the leak. They performed the work from 2/24/14 thru 3/3/ 2014. They guaranteed the work thru 3/2/2015. Bill was $1462.00. After work was completed, there was still leaking from the roof. Initially, there was an area of about 1 foot of water damage to the interior drywall from the leak. Rainbow Roof was unable to resolve the leak. After each repair, the next rain episode revealed that the leak continued. When called to inform them of the problem it often took them 2 or 3 weeks before coming to remedy the leak. Telephone calls to the company were always answered and when the roofer called he was apologetic saying he was "tied up with another job". This persisted for the course of the year and the interior damage which was about a foot now spanned over 2 yards. The ceiling was so bad that when a carpenter I hired to assist with the problem poked his finger on the ceiling, it punctured it with hardly any pressure. In total, there were I believe 6 visits which spanned over 1 year.The last call, the supervisor informs me that further assessment reveals that to correct the problem, an additional $1428,00 will be required. Photos were taken of the damage and letter to contractor will be sent requesting refund for the repair of the leak that was never accomplished.

Desired Settlement: Full refund of initial amount as the repair was never accomplished. They did repair the cracked tiles, but initial assessment was erroneous or workmanship was flawed - either way, the problem with leaking roof was not resolved. Additionally, further interior damage has been sustained which will require additional financial resources for repair. Not sure if there is a health issue as there is mold from the water damage.

We received your certified letter on June 8, 2015 and are responding within the 14 days you requested.
We have reviewed the complaint, and in addition to the following, please review our attaceh explanation and response.  
In your letter it is stated the complaint involves Guarantee or Warranty Issues.  There are no guarantees offered.  There was a 1 year warranty against faulty workmanship.
The customer's statement of the problem:
Their contention that Rainbow Roof was hired to repair leak in roof, is wrong. Per our contract, (see attached) we contracted to replace broken tile and seal cracked field tile, that were damaged by tent fumigation.  IF we knew there was a pre-existing leak, our standard procedure is to measure the specific leak from inside, which allows us to diagnose the situation and better pin-point the source of the leak on the roof.  That did not happen, we were not brought inside to access a leak location.
