Complaint: A to Z Roofing was contracted by Alternate Energy Inc.(AEI) to replace the front half of the roof damaged by AEI while installing PV panel mounts. A to Z Roofing started installing the new roofing on 3/1/13 and completed on 3/3/13 with some workmanship issues on the roof hip and ridge caps. It did not match sizewise the existing caps to narrow, there is gaps between the two caps (new and existing). A to Z Roofing came back two times after the initial install with the wrong size hip and ridge caps. Finally in Aug. 2013 a 2 man crew showed up to replace Only the side roof hip cause of the workmanship, Not the top roof cap that has gasps between the new and existing. I called AEI to complaint but they said to call them myself since they paid A to Z Roofing. No follow though on AEI's part. So I called A to Z Roofing, the personnel named ***** said they are through, they came out 3 times it's finished, I asked for the Warrant for there portion of the roof replacement since I have the Warranty for the Original Warranty from the existing first roofing company. Anyway ***** from A to Z Roofing says they were hired only to do repairs so there is NO Warranty for there install and HUNG UP. So at this point I called AEI to let them know what's happening and I'm proposing to hire another roofer to fix the roof and back charge AEI. So right now I don't have a Warranty and roof caps that fit with the existing roof.
Desired Settlement: Replacement of the installed roof cap to match the existing ones and there Warranty for there install and workmanship of the roof.
Business Response: Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2013/10/02) */ We contracted with Alternate Energy to repair 900 sq. ft. of standing seam metal roofing.(copy of submitted herewith) whereas we were to match existing metal profile and color as close as possible, due to the aging of the existing roofing. We subsequently replaced the hip and ridge caps twice, where as the last installation is may be 1/4" wider than the original caps, whch is well within the industry variance standards for metal roof installations. Further, as to warranties, we do not warranty any repairs, patches or tie-in work as any or all leakage often originates in the existing roofing. however, we will repair any and all leakage at the newly installed panels for a period of two years from completion date march 1, 2013.
